RonDup
I have a TruCut mica undercutter that I want to use to refurbish some generator commutators. The blades for this should have a 1/8 inch id and a 3/8 or 1/2 od. I am having trouble finding a source for the blades. Any recommendations? I am in most need of a 0.032 wide blade, but would buy others to be prepared for other sizes of micas.
Rusty_OToole
I don't know about the TruCut machine but the usual way to do this at home is to take a hacksaw blade cut or break it in half and grind it down to the thickness of the mica in other words, the width of the mica in the commutator. Then cut the mica down by hand. Use the end of the blade that cuts when you pull. The mica is soft and it only takes a few strokes. 3
RonDup
I was able to find undercutter blades online. A supplier is Martindale https://martindaleco.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/martindale-catalog-undercutters.pdf A retail source for blades is EIS https://www.eis-inc.com/product/undercutting-saw-ph18-martindale-hss-u-slot?option=SAW3/8X1/8X.032
