TomE_1953
Looking for a 1954-1956 starter (MUST be NOS or rebuilt ready to install).1953's were known for 'ratcheting' (grinding) when they didn't catch right. I've heard from the guy who wrote the Buick Bugle Technical Notes on this subject and the 'fix' is to replace my '53 with a 1954-56. Buick 'fixed' the problem with a new starter model in 1954. Mrbuick714
Ken Reeves of "Wheatbelt" (Ad in Bugle) would be a good bet. Tell him I recommend him.
Guest
If you should decide to go with an original 1953 starter, I have one. The starter was professionally rebuilt and is fitted with a NOS solenoid. These are just about impossible to find today. If you have any interest, e-mail me. Ed BCA#07534 lugnuts@enter.net
