allcars
1919 NEEL-CADILLAC CO. LETTER OPENER. Neel-Cadillac Company (the hyphen is correct) was headquartered in Philadelphia PA and began operating under that name in 1919. The beautiful Cadillac crest on this letter opener dates from approximately that time, as it is of the “nine-point” crown design reportedly seen on 1916-1919 Cadillac radiator badges. The crest is in nice condition. The letter opener was made for Neel-Cadillac Co. by the Gustav Fox Co. of Cincinnati, OH, makers of radiator emblems for many automobiles. This rare item measures just over 9 inches in length. The Cadillac crest attached to it measures 1.25 inches in diameter. Under close scrutiny, a light bend and a slightly bent tip are visible, and the piece carries expected minor signs of use. See photos. $60, plus shipping from Michigan U.S.A.
