66 Toro radio install?

Recommended Posts

Hey fellas I just received my rebuilt 66 Olds Wonderbar that was made for the 66 Toro.  Currently have a nonfunctional AM deck in the car.  How hard is it to swap these?  I've seen threads that state you have to remove the cluster.  Since everything less a bulb works now I'm afraid of pulling it apart.  Any suggestions?

Yes, you have to drop the column, remove the lower beauty panels and drop that entire cast instrument cluster. Fortunately, radio access should be pretty easy. Been there, done that, but it was 20 years ago.

What I do remember vividly is being careful when reinstalling the column, to make sure that the PRNDL needle doesn't get hung up/bent. And, not to get the wiring harness pinched when re-clamping the column - that makes smoke (rear fast) when you turn on the ignition... 😔
