Cruise Master Cruise Control

My 70 Riviera has AC Cruise Master cruise control unit that mostly works most of the time. It has a few quirks. For example it always turns off when I go over a particular bridge a mile from the house. The dash indicator light is almost always on, I think it has turned off about 6 times in the last 10k miles. But I am very grateful it works and holds speed with minimal surging and adjust for small hills. My question is there some maintenance I should do to ensure it continues to work? Or is this one of those cases where if it is working don't touch it? Should I snag up a NOS or refurbished control unit when I find one to have a spare while I can still find them? Advise/Opinions?

Thanks,

Brian
