Charlie B.
Just got my new wheels, 16X7 Cadillac (Seville wheels) from docardio@lycos.com I think they are beautiful.I'm putting 235-60's Kumhos on them per advice from Alf. Docardio sold them on Ebay. I got them on "buy it now for a very good price and he paid for the shipping. Can't beat that.
2seater
Wow, that's a big tire for a 16" wheel. 235/60 is almost a perfect match in the 15" size but will be 1.1" taller in the 16" size. This will make the speedo a little over 4% slow or 2.5mph @60. Expressed another way, it will change your 2.97 axle ratio into a 2.84 effective ratio. Charlie B.
I ended up getting Toyo 225/60s. The 235s were too talland rubbed on the spring seat of the front struts. I'm happy with the Toyos as I have had good luck with them in the past. My tire guy (who is also a good friend of mine told me the Toyos' are much better than the Kumhos. He never steered me wrong in the pastI like the Caddy wheels too. Big improvement in appearance.Should I cut up my center caps to get the emblem for the Cad capsor should I try to buy the emblems?Charlie B.
ALF1
Charlie: After reading your latest post, I went out and checked the Kumhos. They're 225s, not 235s as I stated. Sorry, but I'm glad you caught it. Do your new Cad wheels have fairly flat caps? If so, the plastic Reatta centerpieces are available from Barney, and can be epoxied on. I use the 3M industrial two-sided tape, which cures in 72 hours and makes a super bond. Any gaps around the edge can be filled with black caulking.Jerry
Charlie B.
ALF J.J. Thanks for the reply on the tires.I'm very happy with the wheels and the 225 60'sby Toyo. By the way, I just boughtr another set of Cad 16" wheels in R.I. He advertised them for $100.00 so Ibought them. I got them this evening and they sre pristine. Now I have to buy 4 more tires, I'm gonna go broke dressing up these Reattas. But I love it. I'm still trying to buy the Wrecked 90 cpe , it went to a salvage pool today. But I still have friends in the salvage business,I may get it.Charlie
