1967 Cutlass 330 harmonic damper & A/C Fan Swtitch

I am having trouble with the harmonic damper on my 330: the outer ring with the timing marks has somhow slipped from its true position, resulting in timing marks 60 degrees out of phase. I have heard about this happening, but this is the first time I have seen it. I can't seem to find a replacement part except for some big-ticket race damper. I DO NOT want to hand over to the aftermarket/speed-parts-racket $300 if a service part can be had for less. Where can I get a replacement?

Secondly, I can't seem to find a replacement switch for my heater-A/C fan. I pulled the bugger apart and "rebuilt" it, but the real problem is that there's too much current through too small a piece of ciruit board. Does anyone have any suggestions, like were to buy one (I am seriously hoping), an instrument/electronic repair company, or someone who makes a similar switch, or a custom switch company?

Other than that, thanks to RocketRaider who helped me fix a problem with my Culass, the Cutlass who just yesterday decided to burst her high-pressure steering hose. Which, OF COURSE, led to replacing the steering gear box while I was at it, since it was a little loose; so I did the tie rod ends since i was on a "lose the loose" mission...

Also, I'm looking for one other thing. Does anyone know where I can find, um, MONEY??

You can get balancers rebuilt. There's several companies that do it. The only one I'm familiar with and know someone who used them is Damper Dudes in CA. The 800# in Hemmings is 800-413-2673.

I don't know how much cheaper rebuilding vs new aftermarket will be.

I've seen the blower switches on ebay, but you already know the competition for 66-67 parts can be fierce enough without adding in the auction atmosphere.

Money? Simple. Plant a money tree in the backyard! You mean everybody doesn't have one??? <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I've heard of people growing them in the basement too... <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Rocket Raider;

Thanks for the info on rebuilding dampers. I thought about repotting it myself. I looked at some sites on line, and from the photos it seems that they are burning out the rubber and pouring in new rubber. Then I started to think about some sort of allignment jig to hold the outer ring away the perfect amount all the way around, then I realized I was going way too deep.

I have therefore decided to do the timing by ear. That and scribing timing marks on the face of the crankshaft damper, or mark a pulley or something.

I know about the ebay auction-overbid atmosphere thing, but it seems to me to have cooled off a lot recently. Since I'm in L.A., I'm guessing that there is probably a switch/electronics remanufacturing plant somewhere, or a place that can make me the switch if it comes to that. I'll keep my eyes open.

Again, my mind turns to "do-it-yourself" fixes that would probably end up costing as much as a new part! [i don't mean to complain too much!]

I would use caution. If the outer ring has slipped, it could slip some more until it parts company with the hub portion. If rebuilding is too steep, check on a later style damper. As I understand they are interchangable. If I am wrong, someone here can correct me and I will have learned something.
