Guest
I was doing a bit of research on 442.com and noticed that according to the VIN coding there was no code for a 69 442 from the Linden NJ plant. My build sheet clearly shows that the car was built in Linden. The 7th digit is an "E" which is not listed. It is definately a true 442 (its been in the family since new, and I have all the dealership paperwork). Does anyone know what the deal is???Thanks!Mark
rocketraider
If you've got documentation from new, then don't worry what 442.com says. Like all Internet-based information, errors are possible and that site has its share, notably in the Toronado FAQ. Factory paperwork outweighs what someone "says" is correct. My info shows 1969 series 3100-4800 were assembled in Lansing, Fremont CA and Linden. As a rule, wherever Cutlasses were built, 442 were built also. The exception is that W-cars were built in Lansing. I've never seen one that wasn't.
