motoringicons
This c. 1924 Auto Red Bug electric roadster was restored about 20 years ago and has been on display in a private collection since the restoration was completed. At the time of the restorations, it was in excellent running condition. This very authentic red Red Bug are powered by the original electric 12 volt motor and is on an approximately 62" wheelbase chassis. This car weighs about 240 pounds and was advertised as having a top speed of 16 miles per hour. It features pneumatic tires mounted on clincher wire wheels and rear wheel braking. They sold new for about 300.00 which was about the price of a new Model T Ford. This car is numbered 178. It appears to have all of its correct and original components. It has been properly restored and remains in excellent cosmetic condition. I am sure with a fresh battery it could be used again. All of the steering, brakes, speed controls, and drive mechanisms operate properly. The wire wheels are in excellent condition. The painted components are excellent with hardly any signs of wear and the wood has been properly refinished. The price is 10,000.00 firm, which is far less than than some have sold for at recent auctions. It is being sold with a BILL OF SALE only. It is located near Detroit, MI.
