29 chrysler brake shoe adjusting

front half of my brake shoe doesn't pivot should it, the rear half does pivot, even with the 4 small nuts and the one pivot nut in the middle loose the front half doen't pivot. before i pull the other wheel thought someone could answer this question.

I just redid the brakes on my '28 Plymouth. The shoes are the same and do not pivot on the front half. They are a real pain to adjust. The artillery wheels don't make it any easier.

thanks for the reply so just the back half pivot but in the owners manual it tells you to loosen the middle bolt a 1/6" after you tighten it so the shoe can fit to the brake drum but the front half i can't get to pivot. were all 4 wheels the same only the back half pivots.

yes, all four of mine were that way. You still have to move the lead shoe out to get good brakes. The whole shoe should move, just not in a pivoting motion. Good brakes on these cars is a relative term, don't expect to stop very quickly.
