1928 starter bendix

There are two types of starter drives, the inertia system and the pre-engaged system.  I believe your starter drive is a pre engaged system, not a bendix.  The term bendix is often used for either type of starter drive and quite often causes people to get the wrong part, especially if the are shopping on ebay where the seller doesn't know what he is really selling.  Just trying to help, not trying to be difficult or intending to offend.

The first picture is a starter drive as used on your Buick.  The second picture is a "Bendix" starter drive used on many fords and early Chevrolets and others.
