m-mman
The car: 1929 Cad Town Sedan equipped with buffalo wire wheels. I have the Buffalo tool and have removed the wheels, and now I want to remove the drum & bearing. BUT HOW?Do you remove the 12 nuts that are against the drum? Are they locked studs or free turning bolts?Do you remove the 'dust cover'? Does it unscrew? And what is the little nut/stud next to it for? does it lock it somehow? I have included picturesI am starting with the fronts, but if there is anything you can tell me about what I will find on the rears I would also be grateful. Jim Bourque
Loosen the 7/16 nut and use a big socket to remove the bearing cap then remove the spindle nut. the rear outer cap is the same as the front. Then a large clip holds the axle in, remove clip and thread a bolt with a large washer on it into the end of the axle, use 2 levers to remove axle. Then you will need a special 8 sided socket to remove the spindle nuts, do not hammer/chisel these. Do not over tighten the front bearing on reassembly.
