72Guru
For 1972, Buick's most popular full-size model was the Electra 225 Custom 4 door hardtop (Model 8439) with production of 104,754 units. This car was built at Buick's home plant in Flint, Michigan on March 8, 1972. It is finished in the model's fourth most popular color (9,999 built) of Hunter Green with a complementing Black vinyl roof and coordinating Green Kenway cloth and Madrid-grain vinyl bench seat interior. The car was sold new by Morrison Buick in New Castle,PA and the original keys and dealership key fob go with the car. Typical of most Electras, the car is nicely optioned with such amenities as: power windows, AM-FM radio with rear seat speaker, soft-ray tinted glass, power door locks, tilt steering wheel, sunshade map light, protective side molding, door edge guards and manual control factory air conditioning and NOS period Buick handy mats. The car's originality is absolutely amazing and reflects the original, low mileage of 11,6xx. All four original T-3 headlamps, hoses, belts, clamps and fasteners are factory original and sport the original GM numbers on them. Even the factory correct vacuum advance is original down to the red overspray on it. The interior is impeccable and shows no wear or damage of any type and the trunk and engine bay are amazing examples of a truly original car. Even the unused original spare is still in the trunk. The car was undercoated when new and was very generously applied so there are areas, such as the inner fenders, that have been well coated. This excess coating could be removed but that will be for the new owner to decide. There are few downsides to this vehicle but they should be mentioned. The air conditioner needs to be recharged but still properly recycles. The new owner will be able to have the system charged with original Freon or may choose to convert it to 134A at this time. The tires were replaced in 1993 so at 23 years old should be replaced for safety, new owner may opt to replace with correct bias ply tires. The gas gauge and clock (works intermittently) may also need to be replaced but other than that, everything is in proper working order. The radiator, fuel pump and distributor cap have all been replaced but the original parts are boxed and all go with the car. The car runs, drives and shifts as a nearly new '72 Buick should. This cars smoothness and effortless driving was second to none in it’s day and is still magnificent to drive today. While other equally fine examples still exist, this car stands on its own and should please the most discriminating buyer. The attention this car receives when out and about is amazing. If you want the closest thing to a nearly new 1972 Buick Electra, this car warrants your consideration. As one might expect, the original manuals and hang tags are still with the car as is a unique assembly line form. It is truly an incredible time capsule. This stunning Electra 225 Custom after 23 years hidden from the public view made it's debut at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix International 2 day car show - it was the hit of the American side of the car show with a constant crowd of people amazed at the grandeur, condition and mileage of this incredible time capsule. It turns peoples heads as it effortlessly glides by with a stately elegance that has been lost to history. With all that being said, it is a forty-four year old vehicle and there is no warranty either expressed or implied.

72Guru
Green tops were very popular on the Hunter Green, the black tends to give it a more formal elegant look. You will get no arguments from me as to Buick Electra's virtues in 72.
