Dave@Moon Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 We have a 1966 Toronado at the shop with vacuum headlight actuators that need rebuilt, with the diaphragms almost certainly needing replacement. Is there a service that can do this, or without that is there an available electric conversion kit available so that at least we can get the lights to function? Thanks!
don7778 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 This company makes a conversion to electric. Not cheap but available. https://dicksterssmartpants.com/store/headlightconversionkits/pontiac/1966-oldsmobile-toronado-vacuum-to-electric-headlight-conversion-kit.html
rocketraider Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Dicksters advertises in the Toronado Owners Association magazine but I don't know anyone who has used their Toronado kit. The 68-9 GTO crowd seems to like them. I can remember when Dick Taschenberg was the only source for repairing Toronado actuators. Joe- is Dick still in Cap City?
ourkid2000 Posted November 16 Posted November 16 I'm surprised no one has done a 3D print of the piston inside. Seems fairly straightforward for the determined maker. Not much going on in there, from what I understand. Just a piston and a big ol' spring. In saying that, 60's GM Fan I'd be interested in your actuators........my '66 has one that's good and the other has a slow leak.
