Spinneyhill
I am getting organised to repair the king pins on my 1930 Dodge Brothers 8. I know the king pins interchange with others within the Chrysler stable. The Master Parts List only gives one number for the king pin (42656). The Dodge 8 parts book says that number is for domestic and another is given for export - 42651. Both books give part numbers for domestic and export for the thrust bearing: 35954 domestic and 55293 for export. Anyone know the difference(s)? Spinneyhill
I have now removed the king pin etc. from one side. The king pin is 0.749" dia. and 6.25" long as found in a catalog, so seem pretty similar to the "domestic" version. The thrust bearing is a Nice 5143. It has a hole in the top and a slot in the bottom. These lock on a pin in the top yoke and a ridge on the top of the steering knuckle. Is the domestic thrust set-up like that? There is also a separate domestic and export part number for the axle and the steering knuckle. For photos see #10 at http://forums.aaca.org/topic/267585-king-pins/.
