1946 Cadillac heater and charging system

Hi, I just purchased a 1946 Cadillac 62 series that is a 49000 mile all original car. Is the battery positive ground? I have a 42 and know it is positive side of the battery goes to the ground and would think the 46 6 volt system would be the same but just wanted advise to be sure. Also it has a under the seat heater that is leaking. I see a cross over heater pipe that goes from the left side of the engine to the right side and a heater hose connects to it and runs to the under the seat heater and another one that runs from the water pump to the under seat heater. Can I just disconnect it by running a heater hose from the cross over pipe to the water pump for now? If so that would allow me to drive it for now until I can get the heater repaired. Any advise would greatly appreciated. Larry
