TomTIII
Took the head off the 1932 and the exhaust valves look more like sombreros than the two replacements I had previously bought:-? Also had a thingy fall out of the head; looks like it would fit into an intake port, but there's only this one I found after transporting the head car to shop. And those two exhaust valves remain very stuck for no apparent reason. :-( Anyone know of exhaust valves like these? And which port the insert fits/foes to? Larry Schramm
From what I can tell, the valve in the first picture is called a "tulip" valve. It is now a bad valve and needs to be replaced. It is usually a valve/ cylinder that has been overheated and deforms from the pressure pulling the valve up into the valve area by the valve spring. You will need to replace the valve. I have one on my work bench in the garage that came out of a truck that I owned. That one is fairly severe. Be sure to check the piston and the rest of the cylinder.
