Cadmium Plating

I have a question on Silver Paint. On page 74 of the 2000 Judging Manual line #10 under General Information it states that aluminum paint and stainless steel are excepted. Then a little farther down on line #1 under Exteriors it states Metallic Paint wasn't used until 1927. <P>If I own a '23 Auto can I paint the rims with a fine metallic silver paint?? Is BaseCoat Clear allowed?? The orginal sales ads from the dealer show a silver look to them, I see many cars in the early twenties with silver rims. What is "Cadmium Plating"<P>Thanks<P>Steve

Cad plating has a flat silver look - not metallic. A flat silver look has been accepted due to environmental restrictions which has made cad plating very difficult to obtain. There are some places that still cad plate., but if you cannot find one use silver without metallic or gloss.
