Guest
My 54 Chevy 2 dr Sport Coupe was restored a few years back in South Carolina by unknown owner. They did a fantastic job. The fella I bought it from never did too much to it. The steering wheel pops in and out of the column, shaft and all. I pulled the wheel in hopes of finding some simple fix. Does anyone have any shop drawings of this column or any suggestions. I am waiting for a shop manual but would like to get it fixed ASAP. Ron of Chicago
Hey LeSabre, I have a book that covers that car. I fyou want, I could e-mail you the photos of the column. I would think that if the entire shaft and all is moving then you have a problem in the gear box itself. Let me know, Ron
Guest
Thanks Ron. I could really use the pics of the column and gear box. The entire shaft slides out of the tube about 3/4 - 1 inch. It is still easy to steer, but I don't want something to give out on the road. I thought I was getting a chassis manual, but not yet. Any help is appreciated.
