Guest RobertI
I'm a newbie here and hoping someone won't mind helping me with two questions about my 1924* Dodge Touring1) A few years ago I bought a Dodge Touring which is almost ready for the road. (See attached) It's registered as a 1924*. The serial number, A241934 would indicate it was actually manufactured just after Jan 16, 1925. How is this possible? Engine number is 265237.2) The previous owner appears to have slapped a coat of aluminum paint on the bumpers without proper prep. You can see through the paint that they are slightly pitted and some rust is beginning to emerge. I've studied Internet photos but I can't figure out what kind of finish to use to ensure an accurate restoration?Warm regards,Robert I Edited June 25, 2014 by RobertI add photo (see edit history)
MikeC5
I believe they were nickel plated. Nice looking machine.
Guest RobertI
Thanks Mike, I wondered about nickel. If that's the case, I understand there are two possible processes: acidic and electrolytic. It would be nice to learn which was originally used. Robert I
