Guest georgiepieman
I'm interested in hearing from anyone currently using (or like myself considering using) 10w 40 high-mileage motor oil in an early 1940s era Cadillac. I've read various articles on the pros and cons of using synthetic/part synthetic oils in older engines, and it seems to me to all boil down to simply a "matter-of-choice," for the most part. Any thoughts?
danleblanc
I ran Quaker State Defy in my 63 Impala last season primarily for the extra ZDDP. Seemed to work well and appeared decently clean after 3000mi. My 61 Fleetwood gets a good quality Castrol oil change with a bottle of Cam Shield for its ZDDP Some people experience a worsening of leaks with synthetic. I know when I tried synthetic in my 62 Coupe de Ville I noticed leaks were more pronounced than with conventional oil. I went back to conventional. My daily drivers are all running on synthetic. My antiques don't see enough driving to warrant anything beyond good quality decomposed dinosaurs.
