Guest dansin1923
Greetings! Our 1923 Dodge Brothers Business Sedan has engine issues. We have water infiltrating the cooling jacket, we've been told this is a not uncommon issue and it can be welded. We are looking for recommendations for anyone in the S.E. Michigan / Detroit Suburbs area who does this kind of work. One minor issue is that we would prefer to not pull the engine ourselves, which we know limits our options, but we do not have the facilities to pull it ourselves and would feel more comfortable having that done.Thank you everyone in advance. hopefully your old car season has been better than ours so far....Dan
Bob Scafani
If the engine in the car has a crack in the block that needs to be welded, It will cost more than the car is worth to get it repaired by a professional mechanic. There are plenty of engines available for that year that wouldn't need welding, but the cost to remove and replace the engine would be prohibitive. When these cars were being repaired in the 1920's the flat rate manual allowed 40 hours to remove and replace the engine without any repairs. There are some short cuts to the procedure but generally the body had to be removed to remove the engine.
