Beltfed
I am rebuilding the Zephyr v12 Ford AA-1 carb. The power valve removed from the carb is marked 7.5. The rebuild kit has one that is marked 2.8. The original one (7.5) is still good and sounds like the right size. The new one (2.8) seems low to me. I know from my hot rod days that multiple carbs require smaller number power valves. What size do you run in your stock motor? Thanks
peecher
The 7.5, meaning it closes at 7.5 "hg (and above) is the correct valve for the carb. The other valve is for a distributor vacuum control on '49 and newer Ford carburetors and not used on the Lincoln. Be sure to square up the bottom of the carb bodyas they do warp over time. This will insure a good seal for the vacuum cavity in the throttle base below the valve. Modern gas may cause the "old" power valve to leak so it's a good idea to use the new one.
