Guest btate
Orginally the plugs for this engine had a arc in the tip and the service manual recommended a round gauge. As far as I know now, these plugs are no longer made. I just purchased Autolite 75. What would the gap be since there's no arc in the tip?
old-tank
That "arc in the tip" is a stylistic drawing of using a wire gauge to gap a used plug ....the plugs looked j The Autolite 75 should be gapped at 0.035 in. That is the gap range they were made for. Even though your new ignition may support a larger gap, you will need to talk to them about plug recommendations. As an example of plug recommendation for my Olds: AC-R46 has a recommended gap of 0.040 in; AC-R46SZ has a recommended gap of 0.060 in and AC-R46SX has a recommended gap of 0.080 in.Willie
Guest btate
Called MSD and tech ask the compression. Right off I couldn't find it in the manual, so he gave me a range. Up to 10.1 use .040 to .045 and over that use .030 to .035. I finally found the compression in my manual and it is 8.5:1 so I set the new Autolite 45's on .
