Guest EdselPride Posted March 24, 2013 Share Posted March 24, 2013 I have a 1959 Edsel Ranger with a 292 ci Y Block. I have the stock manual 3 speed T85 transmission. I am looking to add an overdrive to this transmission, and I have read that there is an R11 overdrive that will bolt up. 60ch Posted March 24, 2013 Share Posted March 24, 2013 I can only speak about the early Borg Warner overdrives. The transmission housing was made for bolting up the overdrive unit and is not the same as a standard trans housing. The output shaft is also specific to the overdrive trans as it needs to protrude into the overdrive unit to turn it.
