rocky5517
While trying to sand and prep the wood, I was getting nowhere fast till I saw there was a thick clear finish (lacquer?) that came off with a razor blade. After that came off, it took the sanding well. It looks like there were 2 different types of wood on the front and rear sections. I stained and lacquered, and I know it isn't show condition but it will get me by. Way better than it was. Be careful- the thickness is approx 1/32" and I punched thru w/ the razor balde. Had to break out the plastic wood, then dye the patch. Better result re final clear coat with lacquer than urethane. Will try to post pix... Guest Steeleco
Looks like a fun project. Are the 2 first photos finished or are you doing some more work on it?Thanks
rocky5517
The first two pix show the finished product except I'll probably spray more lacquer and maybe buff it up.
