1929 Ford Model A Roadster Pickup

Recommended Posts

This is a very nice little trucklet. There's a tag on it that says it was restored by Keith Eichler (anyone know him?) in 1979, but it's so nice, that it just can't be that old. Or maybe it is, since it shows just over 1550 miles, which I presume is since the work was completed. The paint shows very minor signs of age, but no cracking or checking, and needs nothing more than a coat of wax. Nicely finished oak bed, great chrome (not nickel, sorry purists), and the wheels are completely unmarked.

All of the interior was done at the same time, with correct vinyl and simple door panels. Yes, I know the black inserts on the dash aren't correct, but it really does look good, doesn't it? All the gauges work, including the Moto-Meter up front on the radiator. The top is a correct roadster pickup piece that doesn't fold (yes, this was news to me when I learned it), but one man can easily remove it and it stows either in the bed or in your garage. The folding roadster pickup tops are a modern invention, interestingly enough.

This is a great-running Model A that fires quickly with just a little choke and zips around town easily. Suspension and brakes are tight, and it has surprisingly few squeaks and rattles for an open A. Getting in one of these is like revisiting an old friend, and I'm often disappointed in the bad ones that we pass on and delighted with the good ones that we snatch up as quickly as we can. This is definitely a good one. The engine bay isn't show quality any more, and the years are showing on the engine enamel, but all the correct components are there and it has none of the usual "upgrades" that folks seem to inflict on Model As. It starts, runs, and drives extremely well, and I caused quite a stir at Home Depot the other day going to buy a few things for my new house. Who says a hobby car can't be practical, too?

Every Model A we've had recently has sold within a few days of hitting the market for about this price, and this is one of the nicer ones. Available for $26,900 and we're always interested in reasonable offers. Thanks!
