54 means it is a 1954

8 means your car is a Super 88

L means it was built in the Linden, New Jersey plant

7592 means it was the 6,592nd Super 88 built at that plant (the first one was 1001).

54 means it is a 1954

3 means it is an Oldsmobile

6 means it is an 88

69 means it is a 4-door sedan

0 is actually D and mean Deluxe trim, in this case indicating it is a Super 88. All Supers had the D in '54. It if didn't have a D on the end, it would be a "base" 88, and the vin would start with 547 instead of 548.

BL is the code for the Linden, New Jersey Fisher Body plant, where the body was built before being shipped to the Linden assembly plant for final assembly.

4451 means it was the 4,451st Super 88 4-door sedan body built at the Linden Fisher Body plant.

Trim number 81 is for Dark Gray nylon and Light Gray Nylon Pin-Striped cloth.

Paint number 10 is Black

Acc is for accessory codes - U2 is for the electric 4-way seat control. Pretty fancy stuff for a black sedan with gray interior. Other codes like air conditioning, tinted glass, custom lounge cushions, padded dash, etc. would show here if the car were so equipped. These would only be options affecting how the body was built. Mechanical options, like power steering or brakes would not appear here.

Top would be used to indicate the color of the top on a convertible.

...

Thank you paul.

It seems that the car is no longer in its original configuration. It is white and the interior is white and blue. It has no power windows but there is a electric beam below the front seat, no connected.

It has power steering but no brake booster, surprising for a Deluxe 88, right?

I will check the "D" on the body tag. Thank you again.

If I need additional information, I'll post again.
