Kent-Moore Teves pinout box question

I just recently was able to pick up a Kent-Moore Teves Mark IV pinout box rather cheaply. This one is model #J-38716, and is a self contained unit in a clam shell case. My question is this: can this pinout box be used as a direct substitute for the smaller (presumably older) version of the tool that is pictured in the 88/89 service manuals? The one shown has no enclosure, it is just the breakout box with the cable, and no "suitcase" to store it in. I am assuming this larger one with the case was a new and improved version of the previous tool, but wanted to be sure the pin assignments were identical between the two versions.
