Guest
I have heard of the elusive D heads for the 401/425 nailheads. I once heard that they were experimental aluminum heads and I have seen some pictures on a website. I am wondering if they are stamped with a D somewhere or if it is just the shape of the intake and exhaust ports.
Tks in advance, Kerry
c_ehubbard
There is a "D" stamped - I believe after - the head casting numbers.

Guest
D ports were never put on any production car. There were only 47 (23 pairs and a spare) made, and the ports were so big that no stock intake or exhaust would fit them. My Brother had a pair (these photos are ont them) and they really didn't prove to flow any better than properly ported stock heads, but they were cool to have around. I believe the silver heads in these photos were factory aluminum.
