Guest Jeanine
The body by fisher plaque reads: 1940 Mod.51, style #40-4619, body # 660, trim 808, paint #547.It looks like the body is a 51 model and the engine prefix is a 6 identifying a 60 series engine. I am trying to put together resources for restoration. Any help will be appreciated! We just got it and it is in parts but its in great shape. The original glass is not broken, the chrome needs little work, and its only rusted through in the trunk.
sean1997
I'm going to guess that it is model 61 if the style number is 4619 and the engine prefix is a 6.

ModelStyleSeriesDescription

514519Super (50)4-door touring sedan

614619Century (60)4-door touring sedan

547 = Yosemite GreyPaint Chips 1940 Buick=808 = Grey Bedford CordBody number 660 means it was the 660th body of that style built at the body plant. If there is no letter in front of the body number, it was probably built at Flint and the car serial number should start with a 1.

Bob Engle
Google "1940 Buick manuals" and get the service manuals any other info you may want. The reproduction printed manuals are invaluable. I find the CD's awkward and frustrating to use as they just have the pages reproduced, but not indexed. It's a lot easier to thumb through a manual in the shop than it is to get to a computer.Bob
