1929 Ford Model A Phaeton #2

Recommended Posts

*SOLD*

Yes, we have two very similar Model As available, and you can see the other one at this link: http://forums.aaca.org/f119/1929-ford-model-phaeton-1-a-327710.html

This particular 1929 A phaeton is a fresh restoration with fewer than 250 miles since it was completed. Loaded with accessories, it was restored by a professional antique airplane restorer, and he built it for himself. Unfortunately, life changes and he must regretfully let it go. It is nicely set up for touring and remains in outstanding condition in every regard.

The bodywork is 100% Henry Ford, no reproduction parts, and has been finished in correct Washington Blue with a contrasting Straw pinstripe. Finish quality is quite good, and it looks entirely appropriate for a Model A. Chrome is outstanding, with virtually no flaws and a brilliant, uniform shine. Details like the hubcaps, radiator guard, door handles, and cowl lights are brand new, and everything else was professionally refinished. If you look closely, you'll note that sealed beam headlights have been fitted inside the original housings, so it looks original but there's a lot more light at night, and it could easily be returned to stock. Dual sidemounts were added, and the owner intended to install a trunk rack and trunk, but is now unable to do so. The sole defect, which is the slightly loose driver's door handle, will be fixed before the new owner takes possession.

Inside, it has black vinyl, although it is a step up from the original austere grain. Door panels are slightly more detailed and more plush, and it has matching black carpets fore and aft for a more upscale feel, but otherwise it is quite authentic. The instrument panel is brilliantly polished and all the gauges work properly. Turn signals have been added, using the cowl lights up front and the dual taillights, there are seatbelts front and rear, and there's a handy cut-off switch fitted to the floorboards, which controls a brand new 6V battery. There's also a new cobra grain black convertible top and matching boot, although it has never been driven in the rain.

The list of mechanical work is extensive. The engine was completely rebuilt, and features upgrades like a sealed water pump, alternator (the original generator is included), electronic ignition, and rubber engine mounts which virtually eliminate vibration. It starts quickly and easily, and drives extremely well. Cast iron brake drums make it the most confident-feeling Model A I've experienced in the braking department, and the original wheels have been powdercoated for lasting durability. The tires are brand new as well, and it's virtually spotless underneath. This car is fresh, fresh, fresh!

Fully sorted and ready to enjoy this summer with no additional work required. Asking $27,900 and we're always open to reasonable offers. Thanks!
