The vin# for my 1965 skylark gs reads 444675.....is there any way to tell if the car is a 1965 gs convert or is it a 1965 skylark convertible...thanks for your help?

Well lets go for a high probability that it's a true GranSport.
Battery on left side, posi rear, boxed frame, GranSport emblem on glove box, LR on valley pan rail of 401, last 8 numbers of serial numbers match door frame numbers.
This will put your car well on its way to being a GranSport.
Very nice car too! Also, the vin starting with 44467 denotes it as a V8 Skylark convertible. That at least rules out that it is a converted Special or V6 Skylark.
The transmission needs to be a ST 300 with the model for the Gran Sport (NK) stamped on the lower servo cover. The last two digits of the year will be stamped above the NK (65).
The rear axle ratio will be 3.08 in a automatic Gran Sport unless it was special ordered.
With this information and the information in the last post, you can be pretty sure it is the original car with the original drive train.
