Guest Raghunath
Hello All!I am currently in the process of restoring my 1954 Desoto Diplomat Deluxe, and am having problems with the hub caps. Since the hub caps are as old as the car, the steel strips which are supposed to keep the cap on the wheel rim have lost most of their retentive spring action. Can anyone suggest any remedy? I dont want to just replace the strips, I would prefer some sort of a temporary bolted attachment that would prevent the cap from falling off when im driving! Thanks in advance! Rusty_OToole
If the clips are stainless it is usually enough to bend them out so they fit tight. In some cases, I have heard of taking a new trim ring and brazing or spot welding onto the back of an old hubcap to make it fit.
