memaerobilia
I was going through some of my old Sebring 12 hour race programs and posters. The programs are filled with so many greats, who made auto raciing history. But one name (or "position," actually) aroused my curiosity, with no further help when searching on "google." It lists W.A. Howkins (Yes, with and "o" and not an "a") as The Chariman of The Historic Automobile Cavalcade, in 1960. Was Howkins a prominent early figure involved with antique automobiles? He is also listed as a steward for the race, as well as V.P. of the Organizing body. The Automobile Racing Club of Florida, with Ulmann as Pres., of course. nzcarnerd
Maybe he was just the guy who drew the short straw and got volunteered to do the organising of the historic parade.
