How NOT to fix your brakes...

When I think of Rube Goldberg, I NEVER think of brakes. Being a brake mechanic, I know it's too dangerous. Working on a couple of issues with a guy's 1932 Dodge DL6, I discovered what I consider to be 2 major nonos. The previous owner had done two things wrong. First of all, he bought "truck" wheel cylinders because he probably had no clue where to find passenger car cylinders (thought they looked too big when I first saw them). Mmmm...drums didn't fit so, nono #2...he shaved the backside of the lip that holds the end cups on in order to snug the cylinder up to the backing plate and so he could get drum clearance. It chewed up the cups and leaked. DON'T DO THIS!!! Oh...I see nono #3....the floor jack that the "mechanic is using is the ONLY thing holding up the car and I see in the photo that it's raised off of the floor....
