Guest 48 linc
Am getting no charge on amp meter. At idle or speed no change, stays in center. put lights on shows discharge, change speed no change. Have polarized regulator but no change. At one time, the amp showed charge but went back to present condition. Have 55 t-bird 6 volt regulator that is working on bird.If I switch it to linc for test, could I ruin the t-bird regulator. Your comments.

peecher
The '55 Ford regulator should work just fine. It too is positive ground. Just be sure the base of the regulator is grounded. Some of the eariler regulators have rubber gromets on the base for mounting and these require a short ground wire from the base to the mounting screw. After market voltage regulators for Fords, Mercs and Lincolns are all the same from '39 to '55 even tho the generators were rated with different outputs ( amperage).
