Guest 47jag
I need to know the size of the bolts on the rear mount to bellhousing on a '38 model 90L engine. I also would like to know what washers are used (spring, flat or both). Thanks Art
Mark Shaw
I don't have a 90 series, but I think the logical answer is to use the biggest strongest ones that fit. I would use both lockwashers and flat washers too...
Guest 47jag
Mark,It isn't that simple. The bellhousing is tapped and I know it's 12 tpi so that could be 1/2" or 9/16". I reckon 9/16" but I would like to know for sure. There also isn't room for a flat washer as the recess is just 1" diameter so it will have to be a socket or offset ring spanner to tighten it. Could someone crawl under and check for me. It will be a 3/4" or 13/16" socket or wrench.Art
Mark Shaw
My 1931 Model 57 rear engine mounts took a 3/4" wrench. As I recall, there were four bolts and a few shims to center the engine between the frame rails. I may still have the bolts from my parts chassis. Do you want me to check?
