Guest papete
My back 46 door will not stay latched. How do I keep it latched? Thanks:confused:
peecher
If the latch still has "spring" action it may just be sticking? You might remove the push button and shoot some penetrating oil into the mechanism. I freed up the latches on my '46 sedan that way. With the door open you can manually rotate the latch ( on the door) down while applying the penetrate. Hopefully the sticking parts will free up and when you rotate the latch down it will stay down ( latched position) until you release the latch with the door button or the lever behind the exterior push button. You may have to work it a few times. Another possibility is that the stud on the center post for the latch may have moved out of place? You may need to check that alignment. Guest papete
:)Sprayed as you said. It took about 3 minutes and the door latches as if new. Thanks for the tip!
