Guest bigtoyzII
I am restoring a 1967 XKE 2+2. The door post/latch area is rusted badly. I purchased a replacement "door shut face" but it isn't designed like mine. After searching on the internet, I haven't seen any other door post/latch areas that do look like mine. Are there 2 different styles of door posts/latch area and latches? Can someone tell me where I can buy this replacement piece?Attached is a pic of mine and the replacement piece.Thank you for any help.
Dave@Moon
The doors and latch were redesigned for the Series 1 1/2 (1968) and on cars to incorporate anti-burst "safety" latches for the U.S. market. That's probably the new panel you have now, unless your car is a VERY late 1967 and actually a Series 1 1/2, in which case the new panel is the one for the older door. phil w
I believe (from memory) that the '66 and '67 2+2 had their own latch, then changed in '68 onwards. The panel you bought is for a rd. and cp. (wrong). 2+2 only parts are not usually repro'ed, so you might have to fabricate. Phil.
