Guest MidTNDawg
There is a little slack in the steering, not bad. But the steering binds a bunch when you begin to turn so without being able to check right now I am guessing the adjusting screw has been turned in too far. When I get home I will jack up the front and check things out. Any suggestions? Doug (BTW, I know I am fortunate these are the kinds of problems I am dealing with.) Guest 1930
Owners instruction book gives clear detail how to adjust, basically loosen the large nut, turn in the small screw until it binds up a little then back off a quarter turn and then tighten big nut again off the top of my head. Its easy enough. Also you should check the fluid, many times over the years people had tendancy of putting grease fitting on these things and grease aint what it takes. Paul Bohlig
Send me your email address and I will send you a pfd file of the Gemmler steering gear adjustment article out of the DBC News back issues. Assume similar between my '28 and your '30; at least in concept and adj orderpaulmarg@gmail.com
Guest 1930
Might like this also Paul and Doug Rebuilding the Gemmer Steering Box - Bob CarabbioI have chatted with this guy Marco and although he seemed a little burned out he is a wealth of knowledge, I believe he is having some serious health issues and I wish him the best.
