Late 20's cowl light bracket

Try wire brushing the back side in mounting section and look for a part number moulded into the metal, Studebaker often had a part number on the castings. The brackets you have look similar to those on my 1928 Commander GB with rear mounted spare (no side mount configuration). Only photo I have at the moment is the attached view.

They are similar to the brackets on my 1928 GE type 2 Royal Dictator with rear tire mount. The same brackets were used on all type 3 GE Dictators with rear mounted spares. This being said they used the same style of running light brackets on many models that year and I think? 1929, but I bet they aren't interchangeable between models.

Thank you so much. I can only see two of the first three visible numbers and only guess what the second one is. I think it is 241. Unfortunately they are both too worn to see any other numbers. :(

I just thought to check my 1929-40 Sixes & Eights Body parts catalog. It lists two numbers for models with rear spare tire carrier for these models:

Group S98 pg 178

244301W right GJ; FC; FD; FE; FH

244302W left GJ; FC; FD; FE; FH

for President FE & FH with side tire carrier

244459W right

244460W left

This tells me the brackets you have must be 1928 or earlier because after 1930 they switched from cowl lamps to fender lamps.

Sorry I don't have an earlier body book in my library.

I think your cowl light brackets are for a president. I have a president, that I need brackets for. I have a set of brackets that I think fit a commander, that I would like to trade or buy. Please contact me either by phone or email. Thank you for your time.
