HELP ASAP pulling the engine on a 26 DB

I look at this thing and im totally lost, does the oil pan have to come off to get the engine out??? and what hold the engine in there is it just the 4 bolts that are on the back where the cross member to the tranny are??? please help me out asap, thanks a lot a_danner

To remove engine:

  • disconnect exhaust system and pull back
  • remove battery and battery box
  • disconnect brake rods
  • remove floor boards
  • discopnnect speedometer cable
  • remove transmisssion top
  • disconnect and remove pedals
  • jack up rear of chassis
  • knock out rear spring front bolts
  • swing rear axle back on shackles to release torque tube from transmission
  • remove engine rear bearer bolts
  • remove engine splash pans (if fitted)
  • support engine on slings - front and rear
  • remove bell housing bolts
  • pull back engine rear bearer
  • pull back and remove transmission
  • disconnect throttle and spark linkages, wiring etc
  • remove radiator
  • take engine weight on slings
  • remove front engine mount (flange on front of chassis)
  • lift out engine

No. The transmission has to be moved to the rear to get the clutch off the flywheel pins. There is no room to move the engine forward.

I was wondering if you took the front cover ...covers timing chain if you could pull motor on 26 dodge 4 cly as that would give you more room to come forward..
