73 w/ 40/40 console and conv center

First time I ever noticed this combination: 40/40 seats and a short non-operating console and convenience center.

Was it a rare combination to choose?

The only options I know of were always a 60/40 with column shift

or 40/40 with the long operating console

Rob, The short console was standard when you ordered the 40/40 seats. The long console was an option as was the convenience center. This is noted in the 1973 color and trim book.

Back about 2 years ago when I was using the Craigs List Site Mash about 10 hours per week to browse for all Buicks, I saw a few of these "mini" set ups - they are out there.

I had a 73 Riviera about 3 years ago with the same color interior and the long console.

This is the car from Country Classics I presume.

Yes, it is the 73 from CCC. Although we have about 80 boattails here in the Netherlands I've never seen this combination before.

Even the 75 and 76 Color & Trim albums states this option, never would have thought customers back then ordered this set up.

You learn here everyday.
