My Buick has a rather new (ten years old??) fan with in the centre a 'cap' with oil in it. (round the axle)

In there is an oil pump with 2 toothed wheels. One is missing.

Can someone deliver me such a tooth wheel??

Taco.

Not sure about your date, a 10 year old (Year 2000?) fan would be a viscous fluid dampened device, usual sealed for life and thrown away when defective.

I have a 1928 Studebaker Commander with a self lubricated fan hub that sounds like your description of the Buick the same age. The two gears (one drives the other by rotation of the hub) are what amounts to a positive displacement oil pump. In mine the large gear is brass metal while the smaller driven gear is Phenolic material. I recently had it apart for cleaning and service of oil reservior. See the attached photos.

I hope i can get one somewhere.

I can make some more pics of the inner side of the pump / fan.

Taco, they come on Ebay from time to time. However, most folks are converting to sealed bearings versus the oil driven lubrication. The following picture is one example on how it is done. Hope that this helps. Any good machine shop should be able to do it for you.

Thanks a lot, for helping me out of this problem.

I will look at it, and will post later what the results are.

Taco.
