Guest PaulBarrett
I have a 1928 Dodge Brothers Standard Six with wooden spokes. I'm trying to remove the rear wheels from the axle but they won't budge, any suggestions. The axle is tapered and there is a woodruf key holding it in place. I have the axle nut and washer removed.
pepstrebeck
Do you have a hub/wheel puller? The puller threads onto the hub and is used to remove the wheel.
Guest PaulBarrett
No I don't, but I just seen a picture of one. Maybe I should get one or have one made up.
Phil 32DL6
One standard trick is to leave the nut and washer on, but a tad loose. Then roll (or drive) your car back and forth a few times in the driveway to loosen the wheel.
Guest Backyardmechanic
You need a wheel puller that bolts on where the hub caps does.We have one that we loan out If you will return it and pay shipping to and from.Or you can purchase one for a guy that use to advertise in the dB news.vern
Guest PaulBarrett
Thanks guys, I'll give the rolling the car a try but I don't think it will work as the car has not moved in over 50 years and I notice the greese around the nut is very hard. I may have to get the puller and apply a little heat. Vern send me an e-mail with the details about borrowing yours, please.
