hddennis
I'm trying to find information, leads, details, advice or recommendations on restoring a diecast radiator cap for a 1927-8 Oakland. I already have three poor pictures from Google but would prefer better closer details from a good original or properly restored original. I have another broken cap from the period and thought I'd carve the missing segments from it in the hopes that like metal could be soldered to my cap and then it could be replated. Has anyone had any experience in a similiar restoration that could give me an idea if ,one, this is at all feasible and, two, is it financely ruining? I know ANYTHING can be restored if you throw enough money at it but there is a point at which most sane people say too bad it's just not worth the costs to bring that particular item back.
