Guest custommachining
My name is Brett and I own a small custom machine shop near Lancaster, PA. Currently I am in the process of machining a camshaft timing sprocket/gear for a 1931, model 54 Studebaker. I have the old and worn gear in-hand. I measured the O.D. to be 5.730", however, I suspect the measurement is inaccurate. My question is: Can anybody give me the originally designed outside diameter of the gear? Your time and effort would be appreciated.Brett DavisStandard Machine Co.717-669-7109 Edited December 11, 2009 by custommachining (see edit history)
1937hd45
Have you checked with a parts supplier like Egge Machine to see if one is in stock? I'ds pend some time on Google looking for a NOS part before making one from scratch.
Guest custommachining
Thank you for your response. I have contacted the Studebaker museum for the blueprint and am presently manufacturing a new sprocket for my client. Again, thank you for your time in responding to my query.BrettStandard Machine Co.
