Guest 49wayfarer
I'm working on a 1949 Dodge, just replaced the water pump tryin to get ready for a show tomorrow, now the solenoid won't kick in must be bad. I hit on it but nothing but tick, tick, tick. Can I use any solenoid to get by because this one is on a 6 volt system with a positive ground. Just need it to run to the show then can replace before I leave the show. Can't pull start it because its a fluid drive. Anyone know what i can do? Any help is better than what I got now.
F&J
You need to test it. Maybe try heavy duty jumper cable to jump the 2 big terminals.Old fords must use a 6v pos solenoid, if you can borrow one?One more temp solution if you can find one... There are old foot operated starter switches that look like a dimmer switch. On old cars, trucks and even on some tractors, even some older garden tractors. That would need the big cables rerouted to reach the switch, though.Maybe someone has a better idea?
