pvstudebak
Hi all; Working on 1930, 221 ci. dictator 6. Some of the valves seem too close, some with excessive clearance. Does anyone have the specified clearance for the intake and exhaust valves? thanks Virgil

montrose
Woops, you did say you had a Dictator 6 and not an 8. Here is the information for the 6:Tappet clearance from Studebaker Service Bulletin 38 A:Dictator 6 Exhaust IntakeHot ---------- .006 .006Cold---------- .007 .006 The cold setting is considered room temperature or 70 degrees F while the hot temperature is considered approximately 150 degrees F or after the motor is thoroughly warmed up.And answering your other question, the parts books shows the 6 and 8 as using the same valve springs.Joel
